Here are "short" instructions: Turn off all powers Before touching ANY components ALWAYS discharge electrostatic charge (ESD) by touching a grounded metal surface!! If you have a not-grounded laptop, disconnect all cables from it. Connect 10pole flat-cable to SB06-board and the 68H908PR (the two ends of the cable are different!) Connect cable with green 4-pole connector to 68H908PR's HC908-connector (NOT the HC811/HC11) and to the SerialPort 1 of PC If you have a not-grounded laptop, connect all cables to it again. Turn on and boot PC. Verify that the jumper near the 10-pole connector of the 68H908PR is set, i.e. the two pins are connected. Power up the board and press the reset button of the 68H908PR (between the two green connectors) Start the prog08sz.exe - there are several versions (I have 1.40 and 1.48 which are slightly different). On first run of the program several settings have to be made: see the pdf file A second window "Attempting to contact target and pass security..." opens: Target Hardware Type: Class IV - Direct serial ..... additional auto-reset-circuit built in. PC Serial Port: COM1 or whatever you used Baud: 9600 Target MCU Security bytes: check User and enter xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx (your security bytes) or press "Load from S19" and select one of the files which I sent to you If the Controller is already erased, then select: Attempt FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF (Blank Device). Now press "Contact target with this settings ..." and this window should disappear. In the Status Window of the Main Screen the following messages should appear: Opening COM1 at 9600 baud ... Opened. Attempting pin reset of HC08 device ... Success. (RSR=$40) Now a new window "Specify Programming Algorithms to Use!" opens: double-click the 908_ab32_highspeed.08p (you can delete all other .08p-files if you want) Maybe you have to select the correct directory (=folder) before. The status window should now show: Initializing. (Bus Freq = 2458Khz) Initialized. ;Programming file for the 68HC908AB32 processor ~32K FLASH block. ;Version 1.04, Released 08/09/00 ;Copyright 2000 by P&E Microcomputer Systems, Inc. (www.pemicro.com) Loading programming algorithm ... Done. Now double-click "SS Specify S record". Another window opens. Select vtt360-d.s19 by double-clicking. Maybe you have to select the correct directory (=folder) before. Now double-click "EM Erase Module" the status window should now show (after some seconds) : Loading programming algorithm routine...Done. Erasing. Module has been erased. Now double-click "PM Program Module" the status window should now show (after several seconds) : Loading programming algorithm routine...Done. Checking range of S records. Checked. Programming and Verifying Address $8000 ... $ffd0 [$ffff]. Programmed Now you can one of the following: - turn off the power of the board / weigher, disconnect the flat-ribbon-cable and turn power on again, you are done. OR OR OR - disconnect the jumper of the 68H908PR board and press the reset-button (if you do not want to disconnect because you want to do some more programming later - To do another programming just connect the jumper again and continue with "CM Choose module .08p"). The controller should run the programmed version now. This is the ideal case.... Sometimes there are problems, especially when running the program for the first time (until all parameters are set and memorized). Then a good tip is to shut down (=exit) the PROG08SZ program by clicking "Halt" button and restart it. If you are asked to power down, you MUST do it, wait for 2 seconds, check if the jumper is set, power on again AND PRESS THE RESET BUTTON of the 68H908PR and then the OK-button of the dialog-box. If the procedure was successful once, you can set the Target MCU Security bytes: from User to Attempt xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-x {From security.ini} {Recent} It seems that the program does this by itself. GOOD LUCK! If you should not succeed, let me know, I will help you!
