Nein, hier geht es nicht um Klugheit und clevere Lösungsfindung, sondern
einfach um MEHR!
Also einfach ein Programm zum Auslesen einer Festplatte eurer Wahl
anwerfen und die Werte posten, mal sehen, was sich so spannendes
wiederfindet...
(oder es wird gar jemand wird an seine vor Abrauchen stehende Platte
erinnert)

Das Ding wird unter Last leider recht warm, obwohl es auf nem Kühlkörper
montiert ist. Und laut ist es auch...
Die Platte ist allerdings noch recht neu - zur Lebensdauer kann ich
deshalb leider noch nix sagen. Aber ich erwarte, dass die Platte recht
lange hält.

notwendig. Hängt in nem Server drin der seit ein paar Jahren ständige

Laut Wear-Leveling und verfügbarem Ersatz-Flash ist die SSD aber noch
gut dabei - wieso zeigt der Wearout Indicator so einen niedrigen Wert
an, obwohl noch so viel Puffer übrig ist?
Mein Kellerserver (eine von 9 fürs RAID6), 29 Power Cycles bei etwas
mehr als 7 Jahren durchgehend Betrieb...

Dann gäbs noch einen von mir beim Kunden professionell betriebenen
Server, der hat leider ein HP-Raid (cciss) und das smartctl drauf kann
den noch nicht. Aber bei 1 23:03:42 up 3354 days, 12:13, 1 user, load average: 5.78, 2.55, 1.38
kann man sich vorstellen, wie das aussehen würde ;)

Die Platte ist gut am Rödeln, hält immerhin /home und /var und das
Zwischenlager für den DVB-S Recorder. Allerdings mache ich jetzt
tatsächlich Pläne, das System mal platt zu machen. Dann wird diese
Platte durch eine SSD ersetzt.
Die zweitälteste Platte ist Teil eines RAID5 und noch tadellos:

Naja, die langlaufenden Platten sind meistens in Servern, erkennbar an
den wenigen PowerCycles.

Das ist für ne Green schon recht beachtlich. Hatte früher mal ein RAID1
mit zwei von den Dingern und die haben nicht mal halb so lange gehalten,
bis mein SMART Monitor Alarm schlug wg. defekter Sektoren. Sind halt
nicht wirklich für Dauerbetrieb.

Meinst Du? Ich hab noch zwei identische, die haben keine Probleme. Sind
übrigens USB-Platten, die meistens im Standby sind und nur hochfahren,
wenn darauf zugegriffen wird.
Bei der obigen war es übrigens so, dass vor einiger Zeit ein Read Error
auftrat. Daraufhin habe ich die SMART Tests laufen lassen, die man im
Log sieht. Da der Fehler nicht wegging, habe ich die Daten runterkopiert
(was dann mit ein paar Retrys fehlerfrei ging) und die Platine im
Backofen einmal knusprig überbacken. Danach liefen die Tests ohne Fehler

Ah, das ist was anderes. Meine Platten kamen aus dem
Super-Sonder-Angebot vom Blödmarkt und waren ursprünglich auch in USB
Gehäusen drin, aus denen ich sie in den Server umbaute. Nach einem Jahr
stieg die Fehlerrate aber so stark an, das ich sie schleunigst gegen WD
Red getauscht habe.
In der Linux Box gelingt es mir aber auch nicht, die Platten
runterzufahren, erstens wg. RAID1 und zweitens scheint Linux das /home
nicht wirklich in Ruhe zu lassen.
System etc. ist auf der o.a. Diamond Maxtor - der Methusalem in dem
Server.

Was erwartet man bei Billigplatten ausm Blödmarkt denn auch? ;)

Moment mal, waren das bei Dir auch die 2TB LaCie Platten in dem
schwarzen Gehäuse? Die für 60 Euro?

Spanplatten?
Achso nicht Baumarkt OK ;-)
Ich hab noch eine "Siegeht oder Siegeht nicht" Platte im Desktop die
direkt nach ein paar Monaten 48 Reallocated Sectors hatte.
Die läuft seitdem nur als zusätzliche Backup Platte weiter mit, nun seit
24180 Stunden ohne Probleme...

Jo, genau diese. Hatte eine gekauft, auseinandergenommen und gesehen das
drin echte SATA Platten sind, gleich nochmal hin und noch eine gekauft.
Für 60 Euro finde ich ein Jahr Dauerbetrieb auch gar nicht schlecht. Und
immerhin bleibt ein USB Gehäuse mit SATA Adapter und Netzteil übrig.

(Hex 645B = 25691)
Das sind rund 3 Jahre. Ich dachte die Platte wäre älter.
allerdings: 19x bzw. 25x angelaufen, das steht da schon länger. So recht
trau ich der sache nicht.
Andererseits sind es gerade 645C geworden.
