Nokia 3310 LCD adapter boards V1.1 and V1.2
(c) by pay.c 2007

Both PCBs allow the connection of the pretty famous Nokia LCD to a 5V based system (e.g. with an microcontroller).

Features:
- Backlight with "Micro Sideled" - for lighting level change R8 and R9 to a higher level (47 Ohm is very bright already and somewhat the max you should take)
- 3,3V supply voltage with voltage divider (enough for the low current the LCD needs)
- Logic level adaption of the CLK, DATA, /CS and D/S line not needed (cewl!), it will work with 5V logic level
- Direct connection of the LCD to the PCB - no soldering required
- One-sided PCB design for easy DIY-reproduction
- 2x 4 pin SIL interconnection for breadboard and experiment boards
- Reuse possibility of the built-in loudspeaker (only one version)
- Attached Reichelt-ordering chart (www.reichelt.de)

Building manual:
- If you print the PCB check that you switch off the automatic zooming option of Adobe reader! Otherwise the print will be to small.
- The drill size on the PCB is 3 mm for the screwing points, 2 mm for the plastic pin orienting the LCD on the PCB and optional size for the other holes (e.g. fixing it to a frontplate)
- Saw your LCD using the attached picture describing where to cut (a dremel with diamond plate works perfectly - the LCD is cut down within 2 minutes)
- The LEDs for backlight have to be oriented to the LCD (naturally, the points right next to the solder pads show the plus pole) and you may want to attach some adhesive tape to them as they shine upwards a little bit (youll see about that as you switch it on the first time)
- Attach the LCD using screws either 2 mm or 2,5 mm in diameter (depending on that make the holes on the PCB and the LCD 2,5 mm or 3 mm)
- If you use the version without reusing the loudspeaker you *have* to get rid of it and cut the LCD at the upper part
- You should bent the electrolytic capacity below the board to the side (see photos)
- The connection of the upper SIL from the left to the right is (looking from the LCD side!) /CS, D/C, SI (DATA), SCLK (CLK), the lower SIL if +5V, MIC+, MIC-, GND (see the layout for both interconnections)

Good luck and have fun, many greetz pay.c
