Gutentag. How can I charge a goldcap the best way ? When I hook it to a 78L05, how great is the charge current ? Can the 78L05 damage ? Is it better to use a charge resistor, and what value is good ? Danke.

many of the available versions of the 78er regulators have an build-in current-limitation. to see, if the regulator have an current limitation, look the exact part number of the regulator an then look in the datasheet. in other way it could be, that this fast charge isn't good for the goldcap. in this case I think you should measure the charge-current with an Ampere-Meter. than look in the datasheet for the Goldcap and look there for the internal resistor of the goldcap. ..so you can calculate the power, which is transformed in the goldcap to heat, while it is charging and then decide if this power can damage the Goldcap or not.
