Hallo!! English version: hi, I am sorry in advance for my very bad Deutsch. I tried to google on payscale and glassdoor but it is being quite difficult to get salaries information for Austria in English. About me: 1,8 years of experience in quality assurance Bachelor and Master degree in engineering (I do not want to put in here too many details) I have a job interview in Tirol scheduled and I would like to understand what wuold be a salary aligned to the Austrian market. I found only one report (you can find it here enclosed) stating: "Entry salaries for engineers “fresh from universities” are typically 2500 to 2800 € per month - values of up to 3300 € have been seen [15]. To quantify this statement for international comparison one needs to remember that in Austria gross salaries per month have to be multiplied by 14 to get the annual values. So those annual values are 35000 – 39200 € per year with the highfliers at 46200 €." With almost two years of experience, how much should I ask? Any idea??
as you said, you get your salary 14 times a year. But you should definitly ask for "50.000€ Brutto-Jahresgehalt", I think that should be fine. Or maybe even higher ... depends on your qualifications.
Thank you so much for the swift reply. Is it allowed to talk in English in this forum? One thing I forgot to mention is that I am not working in the electronic/electric field and I am not an electric/electronic engineer...I cannot specify too much the field but it is a different one, but always in qualitätssicherung. Does things change in your opinion? I would like to avoid to be chopped just because I ask for a salary that is too high or too low
50000 AS foreigner in Austria? Austria isnt Germany...
I was thinking the same thing....50000 euro is German standard, just wondering if it's the same in Austria....2500 brutto * 14 = 35000 euro. 2 years experience, let's say 15% more? I get 40000 euro, or 24000 euro netto, definitely less than German salaries but since I do not speak fluent German, what they puton table I have to grab it. the problem is if I will be asked to tell them my salary requirements....... I am alone, no children, no wife, I will have my personal car paid by my own.
The so called "personal hobby" is just for travelling to Germany to see my fiance twice a month, as she lives in a German place that is hard to be reached by trains/flights...
We talk here about a position in quality. Salaries in Tyrol are to my knowledge lower than in Vienna or Graz for such jobs. In Vienna you could try to get 46-48k with 2 years experience for such a position. All your mentioned salaries are for this area. In Tyrol maybe 10%-15% less (ish)?
Well, after my BSC I got 43000 (all in). And you have BSC+MSC. So I wouldn't go too low, never ever under 40000. If you think 50000 is too much maybe try 48 or 45? You must keep in mind that living in Tirol is pretty expensive. You need a car and a rental flat costs about 500-1000 a month, difficult to get something cheaper.
Mmmm...I will think about your advice. The company is quite big and I guess is in their intention to hire people that will stay with them on a long-term period. For the rent I can be 100% flexible. The less I pay the better it is. No problem to look for Wohngemeinshcaft, where I can develop my poor German skills!
