Wavecom WMOD2 GPRS?

Hallo,

hier mal ein paar totale Newbie Fragen.
Ich möchte über ein serielles Modem UDP Pakete senden.

Da ich völlig neu in der Materie bin, fällt es recht schwer sich zu 
orientieren. Soweit ich verstand habe, muss ich erstmal das Modem in PPP 
Modus bringen und eine Verbindung herstellen.

Auf der uC Seite brauche ich dann einen Stack der UDP kann.
(Ich programmiere PICs, daher bietet sich der von Microchip an.)
Für Ethernet gibt es eine Menge Informations, aber es fehlt mir noch 
etwas das Grundverständnis.

Jetzt die erste Frage zum ersten Schritt:
Kann das Wavecom WMOD2 überhaupt GPRS?
(Das Ding gibt es günstig bei Ebay und es steht GPRS dran,
aber ich lese überall sonst nur GSM)

Das zeigt etwas meine Ahnungslosigkeit, weil ich nicht genau weiss, was 
ein Modem können muss, damit es GPRS kann. GSM-Modems können doch nicht 
generell GPRS oder?

Hat jemand von Euch schonmal erfolgreich etas mit UDP gemacht oder weiss 
wo es beispiele gibt?

Und um noch was zu fragen: Was können diese Modems mit internem TCP/IP 
Stack? Macht das Sinn?

Richtig. Es gab eine Zeit ohne GPRS. Es gab sogar GSM data call ohne 
RLP:
