Center-Pad beim PIC32MX350?

Hi,

der PIC32MX350 hat auf der Unterseite ein Pad, welches im Datasheet von 
http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/PIC32MX330350370430450470_Datasheet_DS60001185H.pdf 
im Footprint-Abschnitt nur als "optional" bezeichnet und ansonsten nicht 
weiter erwähnt wird.

Was mache ich mit dem Pad am besten? Mit GND verbinden? Oder als Kühlpad 
in der Luft hängen lassen?

ground to the conductive thermal pad on the bottom of the
package. And to not run non-Vss PCB traces under the conductive thermal 
pad on the same side of the PCB layout.


Steht unten in den Fußnoten unter dem Footprint.

Gerade bei QFN ist das Exposed Pad für mechanische Stabilität sinnvoll.
Und nicht angelötet hat es keine Wärmeleitfähigkeit zur Platine.

Für hangelötete Prototypen kann man es floaten lassen, in der Serie 
sollte es dann angelötet auf GND liegen. Also gleich im Layout das 
exposed Pad vorsehen. Kann sonst auch mit nicht lackierten Vias unter 
dem Controller zu netten Effekten führen.
