Winstar WP2002A OLED Ansteuerung

Hallo, habe hier zwei Fabrikneue Winstar WP2002A-Y-JCS 20x2 OLEDs, 
HD44780 kompatibel, beide weigern sich beharrlich etwas anzuzeigen.
Ein zum Vergleich angeschlossenes LCD (BTQH 22005VSS) und ein anderes 
OLED (EA EH1602A)funktionieren problemlos mit dem selben Code auf der 
selben Plattform (AVR und RPI über I2C Wandler).
Hat jemand schonmal so ein Teil zum laufen gebracht und kann Hinweise 
geben?

Make sure pin 3 has between 2 and 5 volts on it.  It is the brightness 
control.
