Frage zu XMEM Interface

Wollte mich mal mit dem XMEM Interface der AVRS beschäftigen, da ich
noch ein paar SRAMS aus alten PC Mainboards rumliegen hab :)
Dabei ist mir aufgefallen, das im Datenblatt die Rede davon ist auch
Externe Hardware (z.B. ein LCD Display) über das XMEM zu bedienen.

Würde es also theoretisch auch möglich sein eine IDE-Hardisk an dieses
Interface anzuschließen?
Oder gehen nur "Memmory" Interfaces weil sone Platte zu langsam ist?

das geht schon..

die meisten harddisk-mp3-player tun das.. google mal nach yampp.. der
macht das glaubich so...

Du hast recht, allerdings wird dort das XMEM auch nur für den RAM
benuzt:
"The external RAM interface on the Atmel CPU can be enabled/disabled
in a register. When the interface is enabled, the RD and WR signals as
well as the data and address bus works "normally". When the interface
is disabled, the port pins (PORTA [D0-8], PORTC [A8-15], RD and WR),
will hold their assigned state from the port registers. Also, the ALE
pin will be disabled.
This, together with the way the ALE pin handles address latching, means
that we can latch an address on A0-A7 by doing a dummy read at the
specified address. We can then disable the RAM interface, and the
address will still be held at A0-A7. But PORTA and PORTC is now
available for I/O, and we now use them as a 16-bit interface to the IDE
interface."

Scheinbar braucht das IDE Interface doch ein etwas anderes Protokoll

such mal nach anderen.. was ich so im hinterkopf hab geht das mit
xmem... ata-devices werden ja über einen registersatz
gesteuert/gelese/geschrieben... sollte also möglich sein..

Protokoll? Das sollte schon mit dem XMEM gehen, du hast ja bloß die paar
3 Adressleitungen und 16 Datenleitungen. Ganz wichtig ist aber, auf das
Busy zu warten. Also, solange Busy low ist, musst du du warten.
Ich hab schon mit nem normalen ext. Speicher-Interfaces eines DSP ne
HDD angesprochen. Kein Thema.

Dein Problem ist, dass die HDD 16 Datenleitungen hat und niemand dir
garantiert (ausser das Datenblatt) das der 8Bit Modus funktioniert.
